The best surfs love to have an alternate shortboard in their quiver. CuttleBone is an adventurous shortboard crafted with innovation, design, and technology in mind.
The board’s unique outline with the inversion from the centre to the fin area assists in easy direction changing within the wave’s pockets. The inner curve wide point is positioned 4- inches forward of the centre to create extra volume, and weight up front giving you more momentum through turns, carves, and cutbacks.
This model can be made with standard single to double concave, or as recommended by surfboard shaper Deano, with his own shaping innovation, the “Step Cave.” This one is aiming out concave, with two channels stepping into a concave and again stepping into another concave. This helps to direct the water flow out to the fins and rails for more drive. With the ‘”Step Cave” and the location of fins suited for it (like a quad set up yet closer together) resembling a keel fin area, it can help you modify your style and level of surfing.
The “Step Cave” was designed and developed by Deano in 1995, and he’s still carving them out today.
